Multiple regions in Heilongjiang are rushing to drain waterlogged fields to protect the Northern Granary.
Continuous heavy rainfall in Heilongjiang has caused flooding in some low-lying farmland. Various measures have been implemented across the province, including the use of high-capacity equipment for drainage, clearing of field channels, blocking backflow points, and improving drainage networks, to expedite the removal of standing water and give crops time to recover. In Limin Tun, Tongde Village, Yanji County, Harbin City, some rice fields have been severely affected by the ongoing water inflow. Emergency rescue records provided by Harbin Water Development and Construction Group indicate that, starting from 3 PM on August 2, a high-capacity drainage pump truck drove onto a temporarily reinforced embankment, with four pumps starting in succession to drain the standing water from the low-lying rice fields to nearby flood discharge areas. The emergency response team had previously been actively draining water in multiple locations throughout the urban area of Yanji County, including residential basements, roads, and reservoirs.
