According to a report by Reuters, AMD has announced its acquisition of AI inference chip startup Taalas, with the transaction amount undisclosed. The acquisition aims to enhance AMD's technological capabilities in the field of AI inference chips and plans to integrate Taalas's technology into its Instinct GPU accelerator roadmap, further advancing system-level solution development. Taalas was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in Toronto, focusing on alleviating computing and memory bottlenecks in the AI inference process through dedicated silicon chips. Taalas previously completed a $169 million financing round in February this year, bringing its total funding to approximately $219 million.
