Today, a reporter learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that in the first half of this year, the economic operation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) remained generally stable, with key indicators continuing to experience rapid growth and ongoing improvements in business performance. In the first half of this year, the added value of industrial SMEs above designated size increased by 5.8% year-on-year, and operating income grew by 7.7% year-on-year, reaching the highest level for the same period since 2023. Total profits increased by 16.9% year-on-year, the highest level for the same period since 2022, reflecting steady improvements in production and operations and a continuously enhancing profitability. By industry, in 18 out of 31 major manufacturing categories, profits of SMEs above designated size continued to grow. The computer, communications and electronic equipment industry, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry, and the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry all experienced rapid growth. High-speed profit growth in upstream and high-tech industries has had a significant driving effect. Data shows that in June, the export index for SMEs was 52.8%, remaining in the expansion range for 27 consecutive months. Notably, "little giant" enterprises that specialize in niche markets performed exceptionally well, with export delivery values increasing by 21.1% year-on-year in the first half of the year, further enhancing their overall competitiveness.
