Independent tech journalist Tim Culpan stated that with only a few weeks remaining until the release of Apple's iPhone 18 series and the foldable iPhone Ultra, the yield rate of wafers for the A20 Pro processor produced using TSMC's N2 process is performing well, and capacity is sufficient. However, due to a severe shortage of DRAM memory supply, completed processor wafers cannot undergo subsequent packaging, resulting in inventory backlog and putting pressure on Apple and its supply chain for stocking. Tim Culpan mentioned that Apple and its assembly partners are urgently seeking more mobile device DRAM chip supplies. Currently, Apple mainly relies on Micron Technology for DRAM, while also sourcing from SK Hynix and Samsung. Tim Culpan noted that the TSMC N2 process is not the bottleneck affecting iPhone shipments, and the production of the A20 Pro processor is basically ready. (Interface).
