The country's first high-tech floating wind power platform capable of withstanding a level 17 typhoon has been put into operation.

On August 6, China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced that China's first independently designed and constructed 16-megawatt tension leg deep-sea floating wind power platform, Haiyou Anlan, has successfully connected to the Lufeng Oilfield power grid and is supplying green electricity directly. The platform is designed and built to withstand extreme conditions of a typhoon rated at level 17, and its commissioning marks a significant advancement in China's deep-sea floating wind power equipment technology, placing it among the world's leaders and exploring new routes for offshore wind power development in the country. Haiyou Anlan is located in the Pearl River Estuary basin at a water depth of 136 meters and is 136 kilometers offshore. The overall height is nearly that of a 110-story building, with a total weight of 7,800 tons and a wind-sweeping area equivalent to 7.5 standard football fields. The platform connects to the Lufeng Oilfield power grid via an undersea cable, and once in operation, it is expected to provide 54 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually.
