SK Hynix experienced a 30% flash crash in pre-market trading on Nextrade, marking the second instance of abnormal fluctuations since last week.
SK Hynix experienced a brief drop in pre-market trading on Nextrade for the second time in about a week, raising renewed concerns in the market regarding the volatility of prices on Korea's alternative trading platform. At 8 AM local time on Thursday, SK Hynix traded 11 shares at 1,168,000 won each, a sharp decline of 30% from the previous day's closing price, reaching the day's maximum allowable drop. By the end of the 50-minute pre-market trading period, the decline had narrowed to about 2%. During the regular trading hours on the Korea Exchange that morning, SK Hynix's stock price once fell by 9.8%. Following lower-than-expected revenue forecasts for this quarter from U.S. storage chip company SanDisk, semiconductor stocks in Korea generally weakened in after-hours trading. This recent volatility closely resembles the trend from the previous Tuesday when SK Hynix also plummeted 30% in pre-market trading before reducing its losses.
