New National Standards for Cosmetics Released Today

The first mandatory national standard for cosmetics, "General Safety Requirements for Cosmetics," drafted by the National Medical Products Administration, was released today and will officially come into effect in 2028. The "Cosmetic Hygiene Standards" issued in 1987 will be concurrently abolished. An Fudong, the head of the drafting group for the national standard "General Safety Requirements for Cosmetics," introduced that, based on differences in risk factors such as exposure routes, user populations, and application areas, the new standard imposes stricter criteria for controlling cosmetics intended for children and those used around the eyes, eyelashes, and lips.
