Sequoia Capital has reportedly completed a $10 billion fundraising round and has decided to invest an additional $2.5 billion in Anthropic.
According to reports, in the first round of fundraising after Lin Junrui and Pat Grady took over global leadership positions at Sequoia Capital, the firm raised $10 billion for its growth and expansion funds. So far this year, Sequoia Capital has returned over $5 billion to investors, not including its investment in SpaceX. The report also mentions that after participating in the financing of Anthropic in January, Sequoia Capital discussed additional investment in the AI company in May. It is said that partners had previously considered a plan to invest $1 billion in Anthropic, but ultimately reached a consensus to invest $2.5 billion.
