The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Wednesday that they are investigating a salmonella outbreak involving multiple states, linked to jalapeo peppers sourced from Mexico. The outbreak has resulted in 345 illnesses across 27 states and has led to product recalls. The FDA stated that 36 hospitalizations have been reported so far, with no fatalities, and the investigation is ongoing. Health officials traced the outbreak back to jalapeo peppers supplied by a common grower in Sinaloa, which were distributed in the U.S. by Coast Citrus Distributors. The FDA noted that the company has agreed to recall the remaining products and is notifying affected customers.
