U.S. prosecutors investigate allegations from a whistleblower regarding inappropriate conduct by JPMorgan Chase in handling fraud cases.

According to informed sources, federal prosecutors earlier this year investigated allegations that JPMorgan Chase executives ignored vulnerabilities in the bank's anti-fraud program, unlawfully refusing to compensate customers whose funds were stolen by over $100 million. This investigation was prompted by a whistleblower report submitted last year by the then-head of JPMorgan Chase's anti-fraud department. Sources say that representatives from the Manhattan federal prosecutor's office and the U.S. Department of the Treasury met with the whistleblower last year and subsequently received documents supporting the allegations. Prosecutors have not charged JPMorgan Chase with any wrongdoing and currently cannot confirm whether relevant departments are still investigating these allegations.
