According to a Reuters report, five sources said that after Trump threatened on July 28 to strike Iran's energy networks and infrastructure, Iran warned Gulf countries through a series of high-level diplomatic contacts that any new U.S. military action would trigger Iranian retaliation against key energy infrastructure in the region. Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif communicated with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar, as well as the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army. Zarif urged U.S. allies in the Gulf to use their influence to discourage Trump from launching new attacks and warned that any assault against Iran would provoke Iranian retaliation against U.S. assets and energy facilities throughout the Gulf region. Subsequently, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman communicated with Trump, urging him to postpone military action. Another source indicated that Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia all urged Washington to resume negotiations with Tehran to avoid the outbreak of conflict. On August 2, Trump stated that he agreed to cancel plans to attack Iran "provided that an agreement could be reached quickly."

Meta Platforms (META.O) has launched its first programming agent, Muse Code, attempting to challenge Anthropic and OpenAI. Muse Code is the latest significant release following the appointment of Alexandr Wang as Meta's head of artificial intelligence. He leads the Meta Superintelligent Lab (MSL), responsible for foundational model development. Muse Code aims to make it easier for users to develop applications within a single user interface while managing AI-driven agents. This programming agent is currently available in beta or preview form and can work in conjunction with Meta's latest AI model, Muse Spark 1.2. Developers can use Muse Code through a pay-as-you-go model, which features API pricing similar to Muse Spark 1.1, at $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens.
