Anthropic is forming a team to develop proprietary artificial intelligence chips.
In response to the surging demand for its AI models, Anthropic is forming a team to develop proprietary artificial intelligence chips. According to job postings and company statements, this AI startup is hiring engineers to design custom chips for the Claude large language model. An Anthropic spokesperson confirmed that the company is building an in-house chip development team to create custom chips for Claude, marking the first time the company has publicly acknowledged this plan. The spokesperson added that Anthropic will undertake hardware-model co-design to enable Claude to operate faster and more efficiently at "the scale required by customers." The spokesperson indicated that Anthropic will use a "multi-chip solution," with hardware from AWS, Google, NVIDIA, and AMD remaining central to the AI company's computation expansion. A recently released job posting revealed the plans for Anthropic's "custom chip team," as the company seeks engineers skilled in semiconductor design and verification across multiple fields. The salary range for this engineering position is $320,000 to $485,000, requiring candidates to demonstrate tangible results and prove that they have "personally participated in semiconductor design and achieved mass production delivery."
