A fire at a chemical plant in Kunming has caused a gas leak: a large amount of white smoke has emerged from the plant area, and nearby residents have been evacuated overnight.

On August 4th at around 11:50 AM, a fire broke out at a chemical company in Erjie Town, Jinning District, Kunming. A large amount of white smoke surged from the scene and spread outward. After the emergency occurred, multiple departments including emergency response, firefighting, and public security quickly arrived to handle the situation. The fire was accompanied by a leak of chemical gases, and local authorities organized the evacuation of nearby residents overnight. The local government stated that by the evening of the 4th, the public evacuation was mostly completed, the fire situation had been brought under control, and a provincial inspection team arrived to verify the situation overnight. The ecological environment department is currently testing the composition of the leaked gases and the extent of contamination. This incident has not resulted in any casualties so far.
