The Guangtai Expressway Kaitai section is scheduled to commence construction fully within this year.

On August 4, the first pile for the Kaiping to Taishan section of the Guangtai Expressway was drilled. The Kaiping to Taishan section of the Guangtai Expressway is approximately 51 kilometers long and serves as an important connectivity passage for the northern-southern route linking the overseas Chinese hometowns in the western wing of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic in 2029.
