Institution: Supply of DRAM will remain tight in 2027, Nvidia assesses to downgrade Rubin Ultra HBM configuration.

According to the latest research by TrendForce, the memory industry is expected to continue experiencing a supply shortage for DRAM until 2027. Moreover, there are variables in the validation progress of the HBM4e from the original manufacturers. Starting from the third quarter of 2026, NVIDIA has changed the HBM configuration for Rubin Ultra from HBM4e 12hi to concurrently evaluating designs such as HBM4e 8hi, HBM4 12hi, and HBM4 8hi, which has not yet been finalized. In addition to NVIDIA, some cloud service providers are also considering reducing the HBM capacity design for their next-generation self-developed ASICs.
