Gold prices rose in early Asian trading. Bas Kooijman, CEO and Asset Manager of DHF Capital S.A., noted in a report that this precious metal has been trading within a range for weeks as the market weighs the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East against evolving expectations for U.S. monetary policy. Kooijman stated that progress in U.S.-Iran negotiations could suppress oil prices, limit inflation concerns, and push bond yields lower, thereby easing the downward pressure on gold. He added that the market will closely monitor U.S. labor data for any signals regarding Fed monetary policy expectations. Spot gold rose by 0.2%, trading at $4,063.40 per ounce.
