Experts say buying a 5-year large denomination certificate of deposit is better than a fixed deposit.

Public information shows that the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China has recently resumed the issuance of five-year large-denomination certificates of deposit. Since July, the four major banks, including Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, China Construction Bank, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, have successively issued five-year large-denomination certificate of deposit products. Lou Feipeng, a researcher at China Postal Savings Bank, believes that for investors who favor low-risk options, purchasing five-year large-denomination certificates of deposit currently holds certain allocation value. Large-denomination certificates of deposit support transfer and pledge, offering better liquidity than regular time deposits.
