On July 24, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the economic performance of agriculture and rural areas in the first half of 2026. Chen Bangxun, Director of the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, stated that the recent extreme weather disasters, such as floods, have affected the southern region. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs promptly dispatched expert teams to guide the affected areas in properly handling the harmless treatment of pigs that died as a result of the disaster, as well as in disinfecting breeding environments and preventing post-disaster animal epidemics. As of now, the harmless treatment of dead pigs due to the disaster has been basically completed, and there have been no reports of major animal epidemics in these areas. This disaster has not caused a significant impact on the national pig production.
