The South Korean court ruled in the divorce judgment that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won must pay $640 million to his ex-wife.
On Friday, a South Korean court ruled in a divorce-related property division case that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won must pay his ex-wife Roh Soo-young 944 billion Korean won. This amount is lower than the previous ruling of 1.38 trillion won, which had raised questions about his holdings in the group's holding company. Previously, the Supreme Court overturned a part of the lower court's ruling on the divorce property division case last year, stating that funds provided by Roh Soo-young's father, former President Roh Tae-woo, to the group could not be considered as legally protected investment. Both parties have the right to appeal this ruling to the Supreme Court.
