Wang Yi meets with Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Syedov.

On the evening of July 23, 2026 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Sayyidov, in Kyrgyzstan before attending the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Wang Yi stated that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan, a year of carrying forward the past and ushering in the future. Over the past decade, President Xi Jinping and President Mirziyoyev have established deep mutual trust and friendship, providing the most important political guarantee for the all-round and leapfrog development of bilateral relations. The strategic mutual trust between China and Uzbekistan is more solid, and practical cooperation has been expanded across all fields, achieving a historic leap from a comprehensive strategic partnership to a new era of all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership. Wang Yi said that this year marks the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. With President Mirziyoyev's leadership, Uzbekistan is believed to be able to achieve the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy on schedule to promote its own development and rejuvenation. This year also marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The Communist Party of China has now become the world's largest ruling party, leading China to achieve remarkable historic achievements. China will firmly support Uzbekistan in following a development path that suits its national conditions and believes that Uzbekistan will continue to steadfastly support China on issues involving its core interests. Wang Yi stated that China and Uzbekistan complement each other in development strategies and are partners on the journey to modernization, fully capable of achieving mutual development and success and planning a new "Golden Decade" together. China is willing to fully tap into and unleash the potential for cooperation with Uzbekistan, and promote the high-quality development of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, as well as create more landmark projects in the field of new industrialization. China advocates for the establishment of a world artificial intelligence cooperation organization to help developing countries strengthen their artificial intelligence capabilities and help in their respective modernization processes, congratulating Uzbekistan for becoming a founding member. Both sides should make good use of the China-Uzbekistan law enforcement security cooperation mechanism to counter "three forces" and transnational organized crime. They should strengthen unity and cooperation on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the China-Central Asia mechanism to promote the construction of a more just and fair global governance system.
