Manila hosted the China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

The China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting was held on July 22 in Manila, Philippines, co-chaired by Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, and the Foreign Minister of Malaysia, the coordinating country for China-ASEAN relations. Wang Yi stated that this year marks the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both sides, China-ASEAN cooperation has yielded fruitful results, benefiting over 2 billion people. Wang Yi also outlined China's principled position on the South China Sea issue, emphasizing that the South China Sea is our shared home. We are currently facing an important window of opportunity to reach a "Code of Conduct in the South China Sea," which must be seized with determination and efforts to achieve the goal by overcoming disruptions. All parties highly commend the fruitful achievements of the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership over the past 5 years and support China's proposals to build a community of shared future for mankind and the four major global initiatives. All parties look forward to reaching the "Code of Conduct in the South China Sea" as soon as possible this year, jointly safeguarding peace and stability in the South China Sea, and making the China-ASEAN relationship a stable force for maintaining regional peace and development and a model for dialogue partners.
