On the morning of July 22nd, the Office of the National Defense General and the Ministry of Emergency Management organized a joint meeting with the China Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the Ministry of Transportation to assess the development trends of rainfall and flood situations, and to deploy key areas for preventing and responding to heavy rainfall and flood relief work. The meeting pointed out that the current nationwide rainfall is characterized by wide coverage with intense points and scattered points. Some areas have overlapping rainfall with the previous period, and water levels in some rivers, lakes, and reservoirs are high, and the soil moisture content is saturated. The risk of floods, flash floods, and geological disasters in small and medium-sized rivers is high. In addition, Typhoon No. 12 is expected to form soon this year, which will later affect the southern region of China, making the flood prevention and typhoon prevention situation complex and severe.
