Middle Finger Research Institute: In the first half of 2026, the national supply of renovated homes decreased by 36.6% year-on-year, with a slight narrowing of the decline in the second quarter.

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, the China Index Research Institute pointed out in its article that in the first half of 2026, the number of high-end decorated real estate projects opening nationwide was 301, a year-on-year decrease of 31.9%; the number of high-end decorated housing units was 171,000, a year-on-year decrease of 36.6%, with a slight narrowing of the decline in the second quarter. High-end decorated housing units are mainly concentrated in second-tier cities, accounting for 45.1%, while first-tier cities account for 32.4%, an increase of 4.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year; third and fourth-tier cities account for 22.5%. In the first half of 2026, among the seven major components of home furnishings, the building materials component had the highest number of units, reaching 3.755 million, a year-on-year decrease of 36.6%. Except for a slight decrease of 1.9% in the comfort system, the other components all saw a year-on-year decrease of over 30%.
