According to South Korean media "Chosun Ilbo", SK Hynix (SKHY.O) is currently in negotiations with Intel (INTC.O) to acquire the latter's large semiconductor campus in Ohio, USA, with the goal of starting pre-processing production of storage chips at the location within five years. It is reported that SK Hynix is currently conducting internal evaluations on the acquisition and going through government approval procedures, with the specific acquisition price and timeline still being coordinated. If the deal is completed, SK Hynix will be able to meet the U.S. government's requirements for local production, while also providing support to Intel, which is facing financial difficulties, in transitioning its foundry business through tough times.
