Hungarian Prime Minister apologizes for hastily nominating chess master Polgar for presidency.

Hungarian Prime Minister Orban publicly apologized after chess legend Judit Polgar declined the nomination to be the next President of Hungary. Orban admitted that he had hastily announced the nomination of Polgar and took full responsibility for the matter. He had written on Facebook last Sunday that the 49-year-old Polgar could represent national unity and had planned to meet with her on Monday to inquire if she would accept the nomination. Although the position of president is largely ceremonial, Polgar stated that she was not yet prepared to take on the "historic responsibility of uniting a country with deep divisions."
