By 2025, China's oil and gas production is expected to reach a new record high of 420 million tons.

Today, the National Energy Administration released the "China Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Development Report 2026", which shows that in 2025, China's crude oil production reached a historic high of 216 million tons, and natural gas production has grown by over 10 billion cubic meters for nine consecutive years. The equivalent oil and gas production reached a new high of 420 million tons, and the country's self-sufficiency capacity has significantly improved. Oil and gas technology innovation, upstream system and mechanism reform, and low-carbon transition development have taken solid steps forward.
