At around 9:10 on July 17th, a sudden mountain collapse occurred in Hanjia Street, Pengshui County, Chongqing. By 18:30 on the same day, 18 people had been rescued from the scene of the mountain collapse, with 8 people dead and 10 people sent to the hospital for treatment. Another 34 people were missing. On the 18th, Liu Chao, the chief weather forecaster of the China Meteorological Administration, said that there would be rain in Pengshui, Chongqing for the next three days, with light rain, and the weather would be hotter the day after tomorrow, so attention should be paid to preventing heat stroke and cooling down.
