Report: The US is considering setting up a regulatory agency similar to FINRA to review top AI models.
According to media reports, after Silicon Valley leaders complained that the measures taken by the United States to slow down the release of cutting-edge AI systems are too arbitrary, the Trump administration is considering a plan to establish an independent regulatory body with the participation of the industry to review the security of artificial intelligence models. Treasury Secretary Scott Benett has assisted in developing the proposal. The proposal would create an independent AI regulatory body reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission, similar to the model of financial industry regulators. Anonymous sources indicated that the plan is currently under review by White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
