Birnham elected as the leader of the British Labour Party will take over as Prime Minister.
On July 17th local time, the ruling party of the UK, the Labour Party, announced at a special meeting that Andy Burnham has been elected as the leader of the Labour Party. After being appointed by King Charles III of the UK, he will succeed Starmen as the Prime Minister of the UK. According to the procedure, Starmen will submit his resignation to King Charles III on the 20th. Subsequently, Burnham will accept the appointment from the King and officially become the Prime Minister of the UK. The 56-year-old Burnham previously served as the Mayor of Greater Manchester. In the Labour Party leadership election, Burnham received the support of the majority of Labour Party MPs, becoming the only official candidate. Starmen announced his resignation as the Labour Party leader in June, stating that he will step down as Prime Minister once a new party leader is elected. Under the UK parliamentary system, a change in the ruling party leader does not automatically trigger a parliamentary election. As long as the Labour Party continues to hold a majority of seats in the House of Commons, the new Labour Party leader will become the Prime Minister.
