Wang Yi meets with UN Secretary-General Guterres.

On July 17th, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with United Nations Secretary-General Guterres who was in Shanghai to attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference. Guterres warmly congratulated the successful holding of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, highly appreciated China's promotion of the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, and fully agreed with President Xi Jinping's important proposals in the keynote speech, especially emphasizing the benevolent, inclusive and safe nature of artificial intelligence, which is highly aligned with the strategic goals and ideals of the United Nations. The United Nations is willing to closely communicate and cooperate with China, support the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization to play an important role, and better serve the common well-being of humanity. In the current backlash against multilateralism, the United Nations looks forward to continuing to work with China to uphold international rule of law, reform and improve global governance, balance the advancement of the three pillars of peace, development and human rights, especially in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, and promoting the construction of a multipolar world.
