Xi Jinping Meets with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen

On the afternoon of July 17th, President Xi Jinping met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who is in China to attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-Level Conference on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence and to conduct a working visit. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Cambodia have worked together and helped each other, and their iron-clad friendship has withstood the test of time and challenges. History has proven that the friendship between China and Cambodia is not temporary, but a consensus that has been passed down through generations. It is a precious wealth shared by both sides. Both countries should carry forward the iron-clad friendship created by the older generation of leaders, enhance strategic mutual trust, strengthen unity and cooperation, enrich the connotation of the "diamond six-sided" cooperation, and promote the continuous development of the China-Cambodia community of shared future in the new era to a higher level, benefiting the two peoples. Xi Jinping emphasized that the Communist Party of China has formed a new era of party building thoughts through the great practice of governing the party and strengthening the party, and will continue to gather great momentum for the construction of Chinese-style modernization. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Cambodian People's Party, and China is willing to strengthen exchanges with Cambodia in governance and state administration, firmly walking the path of friendly cooperation in the new era. Both sides should make good use of the role of the China-Cambodia Inter-Governmental Committee, speed up the construction of the "industrial development corridor" and the "rice development corridor," optimize traditional industries such as electricity and agriculture, cultivate new industries such as artificial intelligence and digital economy, coordinate the promotion of infrastructure projects that benefit the national economy and people's livelihood in Cambodia. Both sides should make good use of the "3+3" strategic dialogue mechanism in diplomacy, defense, and public security between China and Cambodia, join hands to crack down on transnational crimes such as counterfeiting, smuggling, online gambling, and telecommunications fraud, and safeguard common interests and security. China is willing to work together with Cambodia to promote the implementation of the four major global initiatives and promote the construction of a more just and rational global governance system. Consolidating the ceasefire situation between Cambodia and Thailand and gradually establishing mutual trust that meets the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries. China supports Cambodia and Thailand in finding a solution through dialogue and negotiation and is willing to continue to play a positive role in this. Hun Sen congratulated China on the successful hosting of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and stated that President Xi Jinping's important ideas and propositions are of great significance for the global governance of artificial intelligence. Cambodia and China have close high-level exchanges, and fruitful cooperation in various fields. He thanked China for its selfless support and assistance to Cambodia's economic and social development over the long term. Regardless of how the international situation changes, Cambodia's policy of close friendly cooperation with China will not change, and it will actively work towards building a community of shared future between Cambodia and China. Cambodia firmly adheres to the one-China principle, is willing to enhance traditional friendship with China, implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen political mutual trust, expand bilateral trade, carry out major projects in infrastructure and other areas, intensify efforts to combat telecom fraud, and push forward the development of the bilateral relationship to achieve more results. Cambodia appreciates China's active efforts to promote peace talks and negotiations and to resolve the border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand peacefully.
