The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management urgently allocated 50 million yuan in central natural disaster relief funds to support Chongqing in carrying out emergency rescue and disaster relief work for the landslide of the Wujiang River in Pengshui.
On the morning of July 17th, a mountain collapsed along the bank of the Wujian River in Pengshui, Chongqing, burying several residential buildings and trapping people. After the geological disaster, the Ministry of Emergency Management initiated a second-level national geological disaster emergency response, and the National Committee for Disaster Prevention and Reduction initiated a fourth-level national disaster relief emergency response. In order to implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on disaster prevention and relief work, on that day, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management urgently allocated 50 million yuan in central natural disaster relief funds to support Chongqing in carrying out emergency rescue and relief work for mountain collapse, focusing on emergency response such as search and rescue of personnel, risk removal, investigation of potential secondary disaster hazards, relocation and resettlement of affected populations, and repair of damaged houses, in order to minimize disaster losses and casualties. The Ministry of Finance requested the Chongqing Municipal Finance Bureau to expedite the allocation of funds to the disaster area, strengthen the supervision of disaster relief funds, ensure that all disaster relief funds are used for the disaster area and affected populations, and effectively safeguard the safety of people's lives and property.
