Xi Jinping announces major measures to support global development of artificial intelligence in China.

On the morning of July 17, President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-Level Meeting on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence at the Shanghai World Conference Center and delivered a keynote speech. Xi Jinping pointed out that with the joint efforts of all parties, the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization has emerged in Shanghai. This is a major initiative by China to respond to the global call from the South and unite the international community to actively promote the development and governance of artificial intelligence, which will become an important milestone in the history of artificial intelligence development. Xi Jinping announced that in the next 5 years, China will provide 5000 scholarships for artificial intelligence specialized training to developing countries; establish an International Artificial Intelligence Application Cooperation Center for ASEAN, Arab League, African Union, CELAC, SCO, and BRICS countries; promote the meteorological intelligent warning system "Mazu" to be applied in 30 countries, watching over countless families and safeguarding peace and tranquility around the world.
