Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has nominated the head of a state-owned energy company to become the next prime minister, highlighting his determination to prepare for the upcoming winter amid continued threats of attack from Russia. According to a bill submitted to parliament on Wednesday evening, the CEO of Ukraine's oil and natural gas company, Sergii Koretskyi, will replace Yuliia Svyrydenko as prime minister. Parliament approved Koretskyi as the new prime minister on Thursday. The vote results showed 289 members of parliament voting in favor, 1 voting against, and 7 abstaining. Last winter, Ukraine's infrastructure was severely damaged during Russian air strikes, causing power, heating, and water supply interruptions in extremely cold weather. Zelensky announced the personnel change on Sunday, stating that it was part of a broader "political strategic" reform. He emphasized the urgency of winter preparation in his statement.
