According to CNBC, Warren Buffett said on Wednesday that he was the mastermind behind Berkshire Hathaway's large-scale investment in Alphabet. Buffett said in an interview, "This was my idea. The trick of life - I mean in terms of investing - is to find companies that can achieve high returns on capital in the long term." Berkshire first disclosed its position in Alphabet in the third quarter of 2025 and has since significantly increased its investment. Last month, the conglomerate added another $10 billion in investment through private stock purchases. Although Buffett stepped down as CEO of Berkshire earlier this year, he still serves as chairman. He stated that he continues to closely collaborate with current CEO Greg Abel on investment decisions. "I won't do anything he doesn't approve of, and he won't do anything I don't approve of," Buffett said. "We stay in constant communication, but he is the ultimate decision-maker."
