Democratic Progressive Party politicians boast that "the mainland is changing the current situation in the Taiwan Strait." The Taiwan Affairs Office responds.
The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office holds its regular press conference. In response to the remarks made by some Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) politicians claiming that the mainland is changing the status quo in the Taiwan Strait, spokesperson Zhu Fenglian stated that the statements made by DPP politicians are completely distorted and purely malicious hype. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a part of China, which is the true current situation in the Taiwan Strait. The DPP authority's use of the new "two countries theory" to define the so-called Taiwan Strait situation completely goes against legal, historical, and realistic principles, and is a blatant fallacy of "Taiwan independence" separatism. Their stubborn adherence to the "Taiwan independence" position, refusal to acknowledge the "1992 Consensus" that embodies the One China principle, continuous collusion with external forces to provoke separatism, they are the disruptors of the stability in the Taiwan Strait and the greatest source of disturbance to peace in the region. "Taiwan independence" and peace in the Taiwan Strait are incompatible, only by resolutely combating the separatist forces of "Taiwan independence" and opposing external interference can we deter the reckless actions of "Taiwan independence," truly safeguard peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, uphold national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and protect the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation and the common interests of compatriots on both sides of the strait.
