The US Department of Justice is investigating accusations against Shawn Fain, the president of the United Auto Workers (UAW), for abusing his power and attempting to gain economic benefits for his fiance. Sources say a lawyer hired to oversee the UAW mentioned this investigation in an email sent to Fain and the vice president of the union, Rich Boyer, last month. Boyer is running against Fain in an upcoming election. In the latest report on UAW activities released on June 25, the overseer stated that he found Fain's actions inappropriate in seeking economic benefits for his fiance. Fain's fiance is an employee of a training center jointly operated by UAW and the car manufacturer Stellantis (STLA.N).
