The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy announced in the early hours of the 12th that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed to all ships from that day onwards. The statement said that Iran had previously announced that any foreign intervention in the affairs of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the illegal delineation of ship transit routes, would be met with a firm response from Iran. Due to the unsafe situation caused by foreign intervention, the Strait of Hormuz will be closed until further notice and until the United States stops interfering in the region. The statement said that several hours ago, several ships attempted to sail along a route that had not been approved by Iran, ignoring Iranian warnings about correcting their course. One of the ships, which had turned off its automatic identification system, was shot at by Iranian forces as a warning and stopped its course. The statement also warned that if the US used this incident as an excuse to launch new attacks against Iran, Iran would respond fiercely and strike more US bases in the Middle East.
