Earlier this week, Meta announced that users could generate images in Meta AI by mentioning the public Instagram account they want to reference with @. After the feature went live, it allowed referencing public content by default, which drew criticism from organizations such as the Screen Actors Guild, who believed it could infringe on portrait rights and pose a risk of crime. Meta stated that the original intention was to provide a practical creative tool and allow users to control whether they allow their public content to be referenced in this way, but they received feedback from users that the feature did not meet expectations, so they have now removed the feature.
