In response to heavy rainfall, Beijing's Huairou Reservoir has opened the western spillway to carry out pre-discharge.

According to meteorological forecasts and hydrological analysis, in order to effectively respond to the current heavy rainfall process, starting from 9 p.m. on July 9, the Beijing Jingmi Water Management Office has initiated pre-release operations at the Huairou Reservoir. Water is being released in an orderly manner to the Huai River through the western floodway at a flow rate of 8 cubic meters per second. The pre-release flow rate will gradually increase to 40 cubic meters per second on July 10 to ensure sufficient storage space below the flood level.
