President Trump stated that the United States will continue to negotiate with Iran, but he believes that the ceasefire between the two countries has ended. Trump wrote on social media on Friday: "Iran has asked us to continue with 'negotiations'. We have agreed to do so, but the United States has clearly told them, the ceasefire is over!" Trump's latest statement may ease concerns in the market about both sides returning to full-scale war. After Trump's post, international oil prices briefly rose to intraday highs, then retreated, and US stocks briefly fell before narrowing their losses. Due to hostile actions, there has been a significant decrease in the traffic of vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Both the United States and Iran have accused each other of violating the memorandum of understanding signed on June 18. The memorandum requires the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the start of a 60-day negotiation process to seek a broader agreement. The US accuses Iran of attacking ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran claims that the US has interfered with Iran's rights to manage the Strait of Hormuz according to a temporary agreement.
