The news states that TSMC's CoWoS monthly production capacity target for 2027 is at least 200,000 wafers.
The supply chain pointed out that almost all new construction projects at TSMC's factories are operating on 24-hour shifts to accelerate the construction progress. Equipment manufacturers indicated that, based on information released by TSMC, the monthly production capacity of CoWoS is expected to reach over 30,000 pieces in 2024, 70,000 pieces in 2025, originally planned to be 110,000 pieces by the end of 2026, but eventually exceeded 130,000 pieces. The expansion target for 2027 is estimated to be around 200,000 pieces, but it should be considered as a conservative estimate. The market is optimistic that by the end of 2027, the monthly production capacity of CoWoS is expected to increase to between 240,000 and 260,000 pieces. However, TSMC has not yet determined the allocation of orders to equipment suppliers, causing the supply chain to be on edge, worried about a possible atmosphere of price reductions and bidding wars. In addition, the lead time from ordering equipment to production and shipment is at least 7 to 9 months, causing suppliers to worry that they may not be able to deliver the equipment on time.
