The British Labour Party launches the leader nomination process, Burnham announces candidacy.

The UK Labour Party launched the party leader nomination process on the 9th. Andy Burnham, a member of the UK House of Commons and former Mayor of Greater Manchester, announced on social media that he has put himself forward to be the Labour Party leader and is currently the only candidate. According to the timetable announced by the Labour Party, nominations for party leader candidates will take place from the 9th to the 15th of this month. Candidates must obtain support from 81 Labour MPs, including themselves, during this period, and by the evening of the 16th, they must also receive support from at least 3 Labour affiliated organizations, including at least 2 trade unions, in order to participate in the leadership election. If Burnham is the only candidate and meets the nomination threshold, the Labour Party will hold a special conference on the 17th to announce his appointment as the new party leader. Burnham will also directly become the Prime Minister of the UK.
