Tension between the US and Iran escalates again, with Iran urgently exporting around 11 million barrels of crude oil.
With the escalating tension between the United States and Iran, President Trump has threatened to reimpose a blockade on Iranian ports. In the past 24 hours, Tehran has urgently dispatched oil tankers to transport approximately 11 million barrels of crude oil. According to tanker tracking data, five very large crude carriers and one Suezmax tanker have left Iranian ports. Four of the tankers have sent positioning signals in the Gulf of Oman, while the other tanker crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. As this tanker fleet sets sail, the US military launched attacks on Iran for the second consecutive day in response to recent attacks on ships by Tehran. The fragile temporary ceasefire between the two countries is now at risk of breaking down. The worsening situation is making other shipping companies more cautious, with most vessels in the Strait of Hormuz almost coming to a standstill. The latest developments have also led to drastic fluctuations in oil prices, with London Brent crude oil prices staying around $79 per barrel on Thursday, a cumulative increase of nearly 9% this week.
