National Health Care Security Administration: By 2025, new national negotiated drugs have covered 310,000 designated medical institutions, and the implementation of the innovative drug catalog for commercial insurance has met expectations.

At the regular press conference for the first half of 2026 held this morning, Huang Xinyu, Director of the Medical Service Management Department of the National Medical Insurance Administration, stated that in terms of the basic medical insurance catalog, the 2025 newly added negotiated drugs have now been equipped in 310,000 designated medical institutions and retail pharmacies nationwide. From January to May this year, the medical insurance fund has paid out 26.4 billion RMB, driving sales of 39.5 billion RMB. A total of 12.25 million people have used the newly added drugs from last year that were included in the medical insurance catalog. Regarding the commercial health insurance innovative drug catalog, the implementation is in line with expectations. By the end of May this year, drugs in the catalog have covered 1,486 designated medical institutions nationwide, more than double the number at the beginning of the year. Over 100 products that benefit the people will include innovative drugs in the commercial health insurance catalog. All supporting policies have been implemented. "We will continue to strengthen communication with the commercial health insurance industry, guide insurance companies to optimize the design of insurance products, and play a greater role in the construction of a multi-level medical insurance system."
