Liu Juan, Deputy Director of the Treatment Security Department of the National Healthcare Security Administration, introduced at a routine press conference in the first half of 2026 that as of now, 28 provinces in the country are promoting "no self-payment" for individual hospital deliveries, providing full coverage for medical expenses incurred by insured female workers in accordance with the medical insurance catalog, designated payment, and other management regulations. Jiangsu, Fujian, Ningxia, and 9 other provinces have further extended the "no self-payment" for individual hospital deliveries to urban and rural residents' medical insurance.
