National Bureau of Statistics: International input factors and other factors have led to a decline in the increase in domestic industrial consumer goods prices.
Dong Lijuan, Chief Statistician of the Urban Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, interprets the CPI and PPI data for June 2026. From a year-on-year perspective, the national CPI rose by 1.0%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous month. The rise in prices of industrial consumer goods was driven by international input factors, causing a decline in the price increase. Industrial consumer goods prices rose by 2.9%, a decrease of 1.0 percentage point from the previous month, influencing the year-on-year CPI increase by about 0.90 percentage points and reducing the upward impact on the CPI by about 0.28 percentage points compared to the previous month. Among industrial consumer goods, the price increases for gold jewelry and gasoline fell to 28.1% and 17.0% respectively, affecting the year-on-year CPI increase by about 0.60 percentage points and reducing the upward impact on the CPI by about 0.23 percentage points compared to the previous month; prices of personal care products and household appliances both rose by 2.3% and 2.2% respectively, with a decrease in the rate of increase.
