American power grid operator giant PJM Interconnection LLC announced on its emergency procedures website that it has initiated EEA2 action, because it is no longer able to meet the expected energy demand. The company stated that it is implementing an operational plan that requires utility companies to reduce electricity demand within their service areas. This area covers the Mid-Atlantic region, the Southern region, and Washington D.C., serving a population of 67 million.
