Overseas Chinese affairs archives database co-building initiative launched, with more than 420,000 cases from Guangdong and Fujian provinces.
According to the National Archives Administration, today the archives departments of Guangdong and Fujian provinces signed a framework agreement on cooperation in overseas Chinese archives work in Shantou City, initiating the joint construction of overseas Chinese archives databases. Currently, the total number of overseas Chinese archives in archives and cultural institutions at all levels in Guangdong has exceeded 342,000, while the number of overseas Chinese archives in archives at all levels in Fujian province is over 80,000. The two provinces will establish a working mechanism for the activation and inheritance of overseas Chinese archives through collaboration and linkage within and outside the country from three dimensions: sharing resources, collecting historical materials, and developing research and compilation.
