According to text records released by the German public broadcaster ARD, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that the reform plan just announced by the ruling coalition is expected to increase Germany's GDP growth to over 1% by 2027. Merz said: "I want to break the stagnation of our economy. We need to boost the potential growth rate again. I hope that the number '1' will appear before the decimal point in GDP growth next year." In April this year, the German government halved its GDP growth forecast for this year to 0.5% and reduced next year's growth forecast to 0.9%.
